Local Rules for the Purdis Heath Course

OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27)

A ball is out of bounds if it lies:

  • (a) Beyond any fence or hedge bounding the course.
  • (b) Beyond the fence enclosing the Greenkeepers' compound which is located between holes 2 and 17 and to the right of the teeing ground at hole 18.
  • (c) Beyond white posts, including those at the 1st, 17th and 18th holes.

WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26)

  • (a) Water hazards are defined by yellow posts.
  • (b) Lateral water hazards are defined by red posts.

ROADS AND PATHS

All artificially-surfaced roads and paths are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them is available under Rule 24-2b.

 

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN

The specimen local rule in the Rules of Golf booklet is in effect 

PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES

  • (a) If a young tree identified by a stake or guard interferes with a player’s stance or the area of the intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 24-2b (Immovable Obstruction).
  • (b) Fenced plantations are G.U.R. from which play is prohibited and relief must be taken (Rule 25-1).

 

BELL ON 4th HOLE

For safety reasons it is essential that approach shots are not played to the green until the bell has been sounded to indicate that the green is clear. For this system of warning to work it is equally important to remember to sound the bell when clearing the green.

Local Rules for the Bixley Course

OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27)

A ball is out of bounds if it lies:

  • (a) Beyond any fence or hedge bounding the course.
  • (b) On or beyond the road to the left of the 1st hole.
  • (b) Beyond the fence protecting the bungalow at the back of the 1st green.

WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26)

  • (a) Water hazards are defined by yellow posts.
  • (b) Lateral water hazards are defined by red posts.

ROADS AND PATHS

All paths and tracks, including rubber matting, are integral parts of the course. The ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable (Rule 28).
